CHRISTMAS ART ACTIVITY IN THE JUNIOR ROOM – THE CHILDREN WERE BUSY MAKING CHRISTMAS TREES

The junior room are investigating how flowers grow. We planted Gladioli bulbs on the 10/3/15 and observed the different stages of plant growth up to today the 26/3/15. We will bring home our flowers this week and take care of them at home.

We also investigated how a flower sucks up water through its stem. We did this by putting flowers into water coloured with food dye. We observed how the flowers started to change colour as the water reached the top of the flower.

Below are pictures of the junior room children with the boats they made for science week. We tested the boats to see if they would float or sink.

Junior room children brought in items from when they were a baby. As part of show and tell they explained what the items were to the whole class and they also showed the class a picture of them as a baby.

The children from the junior room took part in a Story Reading Programme in the first term. This involved parents coming into the school and reading to the children in small groups for one hour. Thank you to all the parents who helped out with this.

Below are some pictures taken during our story reading hour.

4th class girls visited our classroom on Wednesday 18th March. Together we worked on art pieces using fabric and fibre. We cut up pieces of material and glued them onto card to create our works of art.
